Fun fact about you(non racing related):
-I work as a ICU RN and I am a total planner nerd haha
How long have you been riding/racing?:
-Off and on since I was 5 years old. I got serious in my racing for a few years and had to quite due to schooling and work. Also I had a bad back injury and some small others that took me away from racing/ riding. Recently started up again the last 2 years and being more serious
Series:
-I am currently trying to run the swapmoto series due to being more local and a cool environment. This year I am going to plan on doing the WORCS series and also start the NGPC series as well to change things up and it seems there is a lot more women in those events
How did riding become a part of your life?:
-I grew up with brothers and a dad that used to race desert. I always wanted to do what they were doing so I grew up a tomboy and just loved the Moto atmosphere and being around those people. You become family. After I quite I started back into it for just the feeling of riding and racing, I missed that rush and just the feeling of being on a bike. Plus it was cool to get out there with the boys since I wasn’t much of a girly girl.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve come across in the racing industry?:-Adversity. Its definitely been a big thing in the sport being a woman out there in a mans sport. However now-a-days ,I feel like some are much more welcoming and think its rad. There is definitely not as much support however towards the women racers vs the men. Which I’m worried will make the sport fade for us women and I hope that’s not the case.
How do you think things could be improved for women in the racing world?: -Spreading the word and making it seem like it’s open for anyone to do and try and not just for the boys.. Showing how much the sport has to offer and what it can teach girls at a young age growing up. Maybe hosting womens ride days and clinics again and even just getting support for companies . I feel make up 2 mud has been a cool idea to get women into it more and just make it seen.
What advice do you have for young girls starting out in racing?:
-Stand against the adversity and those that say you can’t do it. If you love the sport and have a passion for it, do it for just that and see where it takes you. Just the freedom of being on the bike is an amazing feeling and racing can teach us so much about ourselves and just how to be a better person. Us girls do not have to live in the typical “standards” that we have put on us. Be different. Be you. Go against the odds and expectations.
-I hope to get into racing the pro class for NGPC or WORCS by the end of the year and be competitive with it. I really want to push my limits and myself this year and the upcoming years to see where my potential lies. Hopefully inspire people along the way and encourage the sport to support the ladies out there.
